David Muñoz

Founder and Director of HIBRIDA FILMS (www.hibridafilms.es), a film production company. He writes, directs and produces documentary and fiction films with more than 100 awards and 500 selections in international film festivals. Winner of Goya Award to Best Short Documentary for FLOWERS OF RWANDA, which also won the Hellenic Red Cross Audience Award at Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival. His film THE INFINITE JEST was the Jury Award for Best Short Documentary at the Aljazeera International Documentary Film Festival. His feature documentary film ANOTHER NIGHT ON EARTH won the FIPRESCI Award at DOK Leipzig, the NHK TV Presidential Award, the Best Feature Documentary Film at Guanajuato International Film Festival and the Biznaga de Plata to Best Documentary at the Festival de Cine de Malaga. His short film ABOUT NDUGU was a World premiere at the 63 Berlinale Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin and won the Best Short Film Award at the One Shot Film Festival and the Best Andalusian Short Film Award at Almeria en Corto International Film Festival. His short film HIDE & SEEK was a World Premiere at the 65 Berlinale Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin and won the Jury Special Award at Festival de Cine de Malaga and the Caracola Award to Best Short Documentary at Alcances Festival de Cine Documental de Cádiz. In 2016, as a resident artist at the Real Academia de España en Roma he produces the installative documentary VELOCE VITA, exhibited at contemporary art spaces. His short film A FAREWELL TO ALL THAT won the Best Short Film Award at SEFF Sevilla European Film Festival and the ASECAN (Andalusian Film Writers of Andalusia) to Best Andalusian Short Documentary. His last short film, A THRONE FOR MISS GHANA, was exhibited in more than 20 countries and won an Honorific Mention at DIGO Festival da Diversidade. His films have been broadcasted in some international TV channels and educational platforms. He is a documentary film lecturer in some universities in Spain and a film jury member in international film festivals in Iran, Egypt, Turkey, Bangladesh, USA and Spain. PhD in Financial Economics, DAVID MUÑOZ worked for several years as a financial analyst in a Japanese bank and as a financial policy advisor to Governments. He wrote research articles and worked as a postgraduate professor in Applied Finances. After some years of career as an economist, he decided to jump into his passion of making films.
